Monterrey experiences a semi-arid climate that is classified as BSh in the Köppen climatic classification. Monterrey is one of the warmest cities in Mexico, and as such its weather is characteristic of hot and humid summers, mild winters, and cool, temperate springs and autumns. Periodical extreme weather is typical in Monterrey including extremely hot days within winter and very cold days during summer. As a result, the weather seasons may vary from year to year. Snowfall is rare, but natural disasters including extreme heat and summer fires as well as hurricanes tend to occur in Monterrey.

The other months also receive rainfall, albeit in lesser amounts, concentrated mostly in the afternoons. The sun glows for up to nine hours per day on average during summer, and the sky is reportedly clear and beautiful.
