Alicante is a famous port city on Costa Blanca,
Spain. It is the capital city of Alicante Province as well as the capital of the Alacantí Comarca. Alicante is the second-largest city in Valencia and the eighth-largest city in Spain. Located conveniently for port activities, Alicante is renowned for its Puerto de Alicante harbor, with a stunning view of numerous cruise ships and tourist boats.
One of the top tourist attraction spots is the iconic ancient Castillo de Santa Barbara, which has been set uphill overlooking the glorious Mount Benacantil. Form this spot, a splendid scenic view of the city and the Mediterranean Coast out yonder can be captured. Nearby, the marble-paved pedestrian walk path of Explanada de Espana is famous for evening walks and strolls with its well-lit straight path crowned with palm trees on both sides.

Alicante experiences a hot climate typical of a Hot Semi-Arid Climate which is Köppen classified as BSh. The weather is characterized by hot and moderately dry summers and cool, mild winters. The variations in the daily temperature across the year are very minimal because of the stabilizing effect of the sea.
Rainfall is very minimal in Alicante and is experienced more during autumn, with moderate episodes of the same in winter and spring, and extremely fewer amounts during summer. The rainiest months of the year are
September and
October, with a mean average of 43mm (1.7") in precipitation. Alicante rarely experiences torrential rains, but occasional change can result in heavy rains of up to 100mm (3.9") that may cause slight floods throughout the city. The driest months are
July and
August when the rain gauge barely collects 4mm (0.2") of precipitation on average, meaning rainfall is received only for a few hours for the entire month.
During summer, from
June to mid-September, the temperature rises to 30.5°C (86.9°F) on average, with occasional heat surges that see Alicante receive up to 36°C (96.8°F) in temperature. The nights remain cool and pleasantly tolerable with the mercury staying in the range of 13°C (55.4°F) and 15°C (59°F). The sunshine hours per day average nine and a half per day during summer, with an even better advantage with the extended daylight hours of up to fifteen. This weather makes the best time to visit Alicante, amid the flow of events and festivities, and is the peak of the travel period.
During winter, from
December to
February, the days are mild and refreshing, with the mercury remaining within the range of 17.1°C (62.8°F) and 17.8°C (64°F). The variation is very minimal throughout the winter months, but the night temperature drops to the range of 6°C (42.8°F) and 7.5°C (45.5°F). Freezing nights are rare in Alicante, as are snowfall and frosts.
Autumn and spring are both pleasant, with mild, warm, and pleasant weather. Autumn receives moderately higher rainfall, but it is still too minimal to affect the movements around the city.
