Santiago is referred to as Santiago de Chile and is the capital city of Chile as well as its largest city. Rainfall in Santiago is significantly influenced by El Nino Southern Oscillation cycles and is usually experienced in the colder months of the year.

The warmer months begin in November and extend through April. This period is moderately dry as December, January, and February pass without any precipitation recorded. April is the month that receives moderately high rainfall in the season, albeit in minimal amounts measured at 12mm (0.5") in the rain gauge. This season experiences the least humidity of the year and receives up to eleven hours of sunshine per day and extended daylight hours of up to fourteen per day. The mercury remains in the highs of 25.6°C (78.1°F) to 30.3°C (86.5°F) and lows of 7.1°C (44.8°F) to 12.6°C (54.7°F).
Traveling to Santiago is at its peak between November and April, during the hot season. This period offers the best weather, including warm and pleasant days that are moderately dry, and numerous events and festivals to be attended.
Events include the Fiestas Patrias Festival in September, the Fiesta del Vino in April, and the celebration of Chilean music in the Festival Nacional del Folklore usually held in January.
