Moscow is a federal city in Russia, serving as the capital city and the most populated city of Russia as well. Located on the Moskva River, Moscow is a major political, educational, and cultural center in Russia. Moscow is home to the most stunning historic architectural buildings, mixed up with magnificent modern skyscrapers, amid one of the greenest regions in the world.
The center of attraction in Moscow is built around the Kremlin, a mighty, fortified complex that houses the President and the Amory treasures, and it stands surrounded by more stunning architectural designs, right on the Moskva River. The Saint Basil's Cathedral Complex stands right next to the Kremlin, complementing the attraction even more with its colorful dome-shaped design. On the same location, there is the iconic Red Square, one of the most prominent tourist attraction spots in Moscow, as well as the symbolic center of Russia. Here, another attractive feature, The Lenin's mausoleum stands as does the Historical Museum with its abundant cultural and historical artifacts collection.
Moscow nightlife is better felt within the Golden Ring District, where there are dozens of bars, clubhouses, and lounges for night parties. The same district is home to museums that reserve the Impressionist artworks like the Pushkin State Museum, for instance. More artwork especially that is aligned to unique Russian art is also available within the district in the Tretyakov Gallery.
Moscow is home to the Bolshoi Theater, a famous Ballet and Opera hub, known for showcasing its classical and talented shows.
For shopping needs, the Tretyakovsky Proyezd is a renowned place, complete with narrow streets with rows and rows of luxury shops to choose from, for goods and service as well as fashion items.
On the northern side of Moscow, the tallest skyscraper in Europe, the Ostankino TV Tower, brightens up the sky with stunning views, being the tallest free-standing tower in entire Europe. From the tower, visitors get to enjoy the view of the city beneath the most scenic panoramic short. To the south, Moscow sees a great open-air Kolomenskoye museum that especially exhibits different building styles and designs.
Wintertime brings ice-skating to Gorky Park, plus the Russian Winter Festival, featuring music and dance.

When to visit Moscow

Moscow is an all-year-round destination, featuring cold, icy winters and warm tolerable summers. During winter, from December to March, despite the extreme freezing temperature, locals and some cold lovers take to ice skating within the Gorky Park for fun and leisure.
On varying dates in February and March, Moscow celebrates the Festival of Maslenitsa. The festival is used to welcome spring after the long winter chill. Tasty pancakes, as well as carnival-like events, are some of the activities carried out.
Between March and April, the people of Moscow celebrates the Golden Mask Festival where visitors and local indulge in masked puppetry, beautiful music, classical opera shows, drama performances, and dancing shows.
The Winter Festival is held between December and January, and it sees people indulge in outdoor skating and other snow-related fun activities. One other key event in Moscow is the Victory Day, marked on the 9th of May amid beautiful military parades performed in the Red Square.
