Weather in February

As Cameroon transitions into February, the dry season continues across the country. However, slight shifts in weather patterns and temperature variations become more evident compared to January.

In the southern region, including the cities of Yaoundé and Douala, the weather remains largely dry, with minimal rainfall levels around 30 to 40mm (1.57"), slightly higher than the preceding month. Daytime temperatures remain within a comfortable range, from 23 to 32°C (89.6°F), providing ideal conditions for outdoor activities.

Heading north, towards the Sudano-Sahelian zone encompassing Maroua, the Harmattan wind remains prominent, carrying fine dust particles that lower visibility. Despite the arid and dusty conditions, February is the coolest month in the north with temperatures ranging from 16 to 34°C (93.2°F), offering slight relief compared to the more intense heat experienced later in the year. Rainfall remains nearly absent, similar to January, before it gradually increases as the year progresses.

In the coastal city of Limbé, located at the base of Mount Cameroon, the weather is predominantly dry with rainfall levels slightly increasing to about 70mm (2.76") compared to January. Temperatures continue to range between 24 to 33°C (91.4°F), providing a relatively warm and inviting coastal climate.

Meanwhile, the Adamawa Plateau experiences consistent weather conditions similar to January. The temperature fluctuates between 16 to 29°C (84.2°F), reflecting the region's higher altitude. Rainfall remains minimal, with February marking the last of the significantly dry months before the onset of the rainy season in March.

Consequently, February's weather across Cameroon showcases a continuation of the dry and cooler conditions from January, with slight increases in temperature and rainfall. This trend precedes the imminent arrival of the first rainy season, set to commence in the southern regions from March onwards.
