Cambodia
Cambodia, officially the Kingdom of Cambodia, is a country located in Southeast Asia. With an area of 69,898 square miles (181,035 sq km), it is home to an estimated population of 16,493,000 people as of 2023. The capital city is Phnom Penh and the vast majority of the citizens belong to the Khmer ethnic group.
The official language of Cambodia is Khmer, with Buddhism being the state religion. Its currency is the riel. The landscape is made up of large central plains with the Dangrek Mountains rising along the northern border. It is also situated in the basin of the Mekong River and has the large Tonle Sap lake in its western part. Most of the country is covered in tropical forest, making it one of the poorest countries in the world. Agriculture is the main industry, employing around three-fourths of the workforce.
Cambodia is a constitutional monarchy with two legislative houses: the Senate and the National Assembly. Its head of state is the King and its head of government is the Prime Minister.
