The climate of Bogotá is considered tropical. Consequently, there is no bad time to visit this city. However, the dry seasons of December through March, July, and August are considered the best time of the year to visit Bogotá. These months have the least amount of precipitation, and therefore they are the busiest with tourists who come to experience the Bogotá Carnival and Carnival of White and Black held during this time. Average temperature during these months hangs approximately at 57.2°F (14°C).

Considering there is weatherwise no bad season to visit Bogotá if you are looking to explore the city quietly and bypass a large crowd of tourists, avoid January, April, and May, as they are the busiest month for tourism.

The city of Bogotá and Colombia, in general, are prone to perennial floods. Due to the country's equatorial climate, the frequent heavy rains, influenced by a condition known as El Niño and La Niña phenomena, bring a sequence of flash floods and landslides. Expect to find a traffic chaos and streets and roads impassable - altered by the torrential downpour that leads to severe flooding and intense water accumulation.

January is the driest and sunniest month of the year. It is also the month that receives the least amount of rainfall with precipitation averaging around 2" (50.8mm) of rain. February is a somewhat dry time for Bogotá. The weather is reasonably dry, sunny and influenced by a marine winter atmosphere.
