Post Falls is a moderately small city located in the County of Kootenai, in the state of Idaho, in the United States. Post Falls is one of the largest cities in Idaho and is located between the city of Coeur d'Alene and that of Spokane, along the border between Washington and Idaho. Scenic spots surround Post Falls, especially with the refreshing Spokane River flowing through, and the distant hilly surroundings beyond the river.
Post Falls was established sometimes in the early 1800s and has been named after Fredrick Post, an immigrant of German origin who built a lumbering mill along the Spokane River. The piece of land on which the mill was built was purchased from the then chief of the tribe of Coeur d'Alene and has been preserved away in the form of a pictograph mounted on a granite cliff within the Treaty Rock Park for the public to see.
Many parks through the city offer visitors outdoor activities like picnicking, strolling, and photography, among many others. The Spokane River also provides visitors with many water-related activities like fishing, kayaking, and canoeing, among others.
A visit to Post Falls is incomplete without a tour of the renowned bit of the 7-Eleven store in Idaho, currently, the last one standing of them all.

When to visit Post Falls

Post Falls experiences a climate that is typical of the dry-summer continental climate that is classified as Köppen Dsa. Generally, Post Falls has four distinct weather seasons, characteristic of summers that are moderately dry, warm, and pleasant, and winters that are cold, snowy, and moderately wet. Spring is short and partly carries on with the winter weather before opening up to mildly cold and pleasant days. Autumn, too, is short and has moderately cold weather, with the first of the snow being received then.
Summer begins in mid-May and extends through September. The days are marked by warm temperature ranges and ample sunshine, albeit with moderately high humidity. The temperature averages highs of between 66°F (18.9°C) and 84.7°F (29.3°C) and lows of between 49.8°F (9.9°C) and 57.7°F (14.3°C). The nights become cold, and the temperature may drop to less than 42.8°F (6°C) occasionally. Summer days are dry, and the rain gauge barely collects more than 2" (50.8mm) on the month with the most rain. The driest month happens to be August, with a low 0.9" (22.9mm) in precipitation. This is the best time to visit Post Falls.
Winter begins in mid-November and ends in mid-March. Most days are characterized by cold weather and even chillier nights. The days' temperature averages between 34°F (1.1°C) and 39.7°F (4.3°C), while at night it drops to read between 30.2°F (-1°C) and 24.3°F (-4.3°C). Occasionally, Post Falls has the nigh temperature dropping lower than 21.2°F (-6°C), making the nights a lot chillier considering the presence of the cold winter winds throughout the season. Snowfall is regular, and it measures up to 18.5" (469.9mm) in the snowiest month. Averagely, though, there are approximately 28.3cm of snow per month.
Spring lifts slightly, but most days remain cold as snow can still be experienced in the first half of the season. The beautiful blossoms bring a gust of fresh scents through the city as summer approaches.
Autumn is even more beautiful in the golden-brown fall foliage. The days remain mildly cold but pleasant enough for outdoor fun and activities.
