Mussoorie is a beautiful hill station that serves as the municipality board in the District of Dehradun, in the state of Uttarakhand in India. Its proximity to the capital city of its state as well as to the capital city of the country has made it a famous spot for many activities. Mussoorie has a beautiful location up a higher elevation than its surrounding regions and is crowned by the presence of the Doon Valley to its south, the famous Shiwalik Ranges, and the Himalayas to its northeast.
Mussoorie is home to a popular local shrub called Mansoor. Its central tourist attraction spot is the Mall, a vast area that runs from the famous Picture Palace in the east to the iconic Public Library in the west. The Mall is home to the Savoy, an ancient luxurious hotel setting that has been known to host the members of the ruling class since time immemorial.
To date, Mussoorie has grown to be an essential tourist destination in the region, and a firm economic and commercial hub as well. Much of this growth is attributed to its proximity to the capital city of India, Delhi.

When to visit Mussoorie

Mussoorie experiences a subtropical highland climate which is Köppen classified as Cwb. This climate is due to its location in the 4,270 feet above sea level elevation point and is primarily influenced by the monsoons. The weather is characterized mainly of warm and rainy summers and winters that range from mildly cool to cold and moderately dry.
During summer, from May to September, the temperature remains warm and pleasant without the extreme heat. The mercury remains within the range of 20°C (68°F) and 25°C (77°F) during the days, and 14°C (57.2°F) and 16°C (60.8°F) at night. The monsoon rains come to Mussoorie during summer, from the mid of June to September. The rainiest months of the year are July and August when the rain gauge collects a massive 666mm (26.2") in precipitation. Along with the rains, Mussoorie may experience slight flooding and thunderstorms, and visitors are advised to that effect.
Winter comes to Mussoorie from December to February, bringing along a considerable drop in the temperature levels. During the day, the temperature ranges between 10°C (50°F) and 13°C (55.4°F), while at night it drops to the range of 2°C (35.6°F) and 4°C (39.2°F). Snowfall was a regular occurrence in Mussoorie, but in the recent past, the amount of snow has reduced considerably due to many human-made activities. As such, the snowfall recordings may vary from time to time across the winter months. The nights get very chilly, especially with the cold winds and seeing that Mussoorie is in an elevated point.
Autumn and spring are both mild. Autumn experiences a drop in the temperature levels to a cold and tolerable range of 7°C (44.6°F) and 18°C (64.4°F). With a reduction in the rainfall amount and a slight increase in the amount of sunshine, the days feel much warmer than registered. The fall brings unique beauty to Mussoorie, with the golden illumination and the brown effect of the falling leaves, which sees many visitors take to picnicking and sightseeing. Spring has its fair share of beauty with the blossoming of the flowery trees bringing sweet scents and fresh, crisp air to Mussoorie. Both seasons make the peak of the travel periods.
