Weather in July

July in Libya represents the peak of the summer season, characterized by some of the highest temperatures of the year and a near-complete absence of rainfall.

In the subtropical desert regions such as Al Wahat and Kufra, July is particularly harsh, with temperatures commonly soaring. Daytime readings usually range between 38°C (100.4°F) and 43°C (109.4°F), making it one of the hottest months of the year in these areas.

Coastal cities like Tripoli and Benghazi also endure high temperatures during July. The average temperatures in these areas typically vary between 30°C (86°F) and 34°C (93.2°F). Despite being cooler than the desert regions, the heat experienced in these coastal cities is nonetheless intense.

The Mediterranean region of Jabal al Akhdar records average temperatures from 28°C (82.4°F) to 32°C (89.6°F) in July. Even though this region is cooler compared to the desert areas, July still brings a significant increase in heat compared to previous months.

In terms of precipitation, July sees an almost complete lack of rainfall across all of Libya. Even Jabal al Akhdar, the wettest region in the country, experiences little to no rainfall during this month.

July does not break any extreme weather records for Libya. However, it represents the climax of the summer season, with the country experiencing some of its highest temperatures and driest conditions of the year. As July progresses, the intense heat and aridity provide clear indications of the harsh climatic conditions that characterize the Libyan summer.
