It is also referred to as the capital of financial, cultural, and media aspects in the world. New York hosts the headquarters of the United Nations, and as such, has been considered significant in the technology, tourism, entertainment, and research aspects, among others.
New York City is conveniently located on one of the largest natural harbors of the world, at the point where the Hudson River drains into the New York Bay and then into the Atlantic Ocean on the Eastern Coast of the United States. The city is made up of five independent boroughs, namely Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Staten Island.
Manhattan forms the core of New York, and apart from having quite a dense population, it is a major financial, cultural, and commercial center. Outstanding skyscrapers like the Empire State Building line the cityscape of Manhattan. The extensive Central Park forms one of the most attractive sights in Manhattan. Tourists also visit the Neon-lit Times Square for a show or more at the Broadway Theatre.
Connecting Manhattan to Brooklyn is the glorious Brooklyn Bridge, with various attractive settings. For instance, at the Williamsburg neighborhood, there are multiple spots like the family amusement parks at the Coney Island beaches, a vibrant entertainment system, a more vibrant nightlife, and great music spots.
In the Queens borough, visitors and locals enjoy touring the Corona Park's Flushing Meadows, and a chance to view the iconic Unisphere. The Unisphere was built in 1964, complete with twelve stories, and now stands as one of the World's Fair globe sculptures.
Within the Bronx borough, stands the New York Botanical Garden, complete in utter attractiveness with its natural setting. The famous Bronx Zoo is another attraction spot in the Bronx borough, with its varieties of zoo animals for viewing.
Visiting Staten Island, the ferry has to be used to connect between Manhattan and Staten Island. Here, there stands an attractive feature, viewed by many - the Statue of Liberty. Visitors also enjoy the fantastic view of the cityscape from various spots in Staten Island.

At the same time, on varying dates in November and December, New York holds the beautiful tree lighting ceremony at the Rockefeller Center.
