Warsaw, the Capital and largest city of Poland, has a humid continental climate (Köppen climatic classification Cfb or Dfb) with winters that are cold, snowy, and cloudy and moderately warm, sunny but rainy summers. Conveniently located in the lovely Masovian Plain, Warsaw experiences four distinct seasons and is generally mildly sunny and receives moderately low rainfall all year with most of it being in summer.

Winter comes to Warsaw with the coldest temperatures in the range of 32°F (0°C) and 21.2°F (-6°C). The nights are exceptionally icy and chilly, especially when the Russian cold air masses arrive and temperatures go below 21.2°F (-6°C). Moderately high frequent snowfall result in mild accumulation of snow on the ground throughout the winter. The general weather description for winter period is - chilly, mildly wet and snowy with dark grey skies.

Summertime in Warsaw is mildly warm and pleasant with temperatures in the tolerable range of 51.8°F (11°C) and 73.4°F (23°C) rendering the city in one of the loveliest weather of the year. Most tourists visit Warsaw in summer as the weather is not freezing and while the temperatures do not hit the highs of above 77°F (25°C).
Rainfall experienced in summer remains the highest of the year with an average precipitation of 2.8" (71.1mm). Most days during summer are sunny to the tune of seven and a half hours of sunshine per day.

Spring and autumn have unstable weather. Spring starts with a cold period with mild snow falls before lifting into warm and pleasant days albeit mildly rainy. Autumn alternates between mildly cold and pleasant weather in the first few weeks, before turning cold, wet, and dull in the last weeks closer to winter.

The best time to visit Warsaw is in summer, between June and August when the weather is the most pleasant and temperatures most tolerable. Without the chill of winter and devoid of scorching temperatures, summer offers the best time to tour Warsaw and its great historical culture. Visiting the museums and great monuments in Warsaw under the wonderful weather makes a great bucket list. The nights might get cold and chilly and as such warm dressing remains essential. As much as the days are warm and pleasant, rainfall is not scarce and most afternoons get interrupted by mildly heavy showers.

Visiting Warsaw in the winter between December and February is challenging. The weather is freezing, and temperatures are extremely low. Days are chilly, mildly wet, and appear dark and icy due to the constant gray skies - making winter the worst season for sight-seeing Warsaw. The cold air masses from Russia are common in winter and make the weather even colder. The nights are cold as temperatures drop to 42.8°F (6°C) or less, making the weather almost unbearable.
