Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, is iconic for its preservation of cultural and artistic heritage. The magnificent city is set in beautiful ancient architectural house designs, which are complete in small statures and gabled facades that date back into the 17th century. Amsterdam is also set in a detailed and intricate canal system throughout the city.
The Van Gogh Museum, located in Amsterdam's museum district, features different works of art by Rembrandt and Vermeer within the Rijksmuseum. Modern works of art are also featured in the Stedelijk. These form a significant part of tourist attraction spots in Amsterdam.
Cycling is an everyday activity in Amsterdam, the reason why there are countless paths set aside specifically for biking. Vondelpark, the largest city park in Amsterdam, is widely known for its numerous cafes and an open-air theater. The most outstanding theatre is the Royal Concertgebouw, which remains one of the most famous venues for classical music. The Jordaan district is home to numerous shops and art galleries. The region also features the Anne Frank House, known historically as the safe house where the Jewish Diarist went into hiding during world war two.
Amsterdam's Red Light District features bright neon lights and is iconic for its suggestive, alluring, and fascinating exhibitions of paintings and drawings displayed in the Erotic Museum.
Amsterdam provides varied dining options, beginning with restaurants that have been laid out casually in sitting rooms' designs, to the laid back traditional settings of the Dutch eateries, and the famous Indonesian "rice table" easily referred to as rijsttafel.

When to visit Amsterdam

During spring, Amsterdam attracts many tourist visits because of its tulip attractions. The season runs from mid-March to early May, and it features pleasant weather throughout. During summer, specifically from June to August, the weather is mildly warm and pleasant, and it is another good time to visit Amsterdam. During the fall, from September to October, the entire downtown is covered in blissful magnificence and is the best time to visit the historic city.
Some of the major festivities in Amsterdam include the King's Day, which is usually marked with outdoor concerts, and flea markets, all in orange color, which is the official national color. In August, there is celebrated the Gay Pride, where the entire city is paraded with boats on all of Amsterdam's canals.
Winter, though, is not the best time to visit Amsterdam, as most days are cold and damp.
