Phuket, Thailand

Phuket is one of the provinces of Thailand, located in the south of the country. Phuket is home to the biggest island in Thailand - Phuket Island, and still, home to thirty-two other Islands, albeit small. Phuket is located in the Andaman Sea to the western coast of Thailand. Formerly used as a route of trade between China and India, Phuket is still one of the smallest provinces of Thailand.
Phuket is home to some of the magnificent beaches in Thailand, renowned for its bright, blue waters and amazing landscapes. The city also prides in outstanding restaurants, great beach resorts, and bustling markets streets.
There are dozens of old shops and stalls, as well as busy market stretches within Phuket City. Patong is Phuket's main town, and it hosts the most bars, discotheques, and nightclubs, generally attracting a super vibrant nightlife.
Patong Beach attracts very many water activities. Locals and visitors join in the numerous water sports and later rest and relax along the beach in the rows of beach chairs and umbrellas rented to them. More water activities take place on other beaches like Kata Beach, which is smaller but just as busy. The nearby Karon and Rawai beaches, as well as all the other beaches that are along the eastern coast and the northwestern strip, are known to be quiet, peaceful, and very tranquil because no big ventures have been done therein.
Activities in Phuket cannot be complete without scuba diving within the beautiful coral reefs, skiing, as well as surfing. A visit to the iconic, tall limestone cliffs and caves in Phang Nga Bay would also for a bucket list on attractive spots in Phuket. Some religious attractions in Phuket include the giant Buddha statue in the city and the Wat Chalong Buddhist Temple house, among many others.

When to visit Phuket

Between December and April, Phuket experiences warm and pleasant weather, and most days are moderately dry. Visiting the city at this time is perfect. However, between May and October, the weather turns hot and humid, and most days receive heavy rainfall.
In April, the people of Phuket celebrate the Songkran/Thai New Year, and the celebrations are complete with colorful streets, parties, dances, and music. Between April and May, the Phuket Pride Festival is held to celebrate the culture and milestones of Phuket, and most businesses may close down for the same. Another fantastic event is the Loy Krathong Festival, otherwise known as the "Festival of Lights". Phuket becomes all lit up, and beautiful from the thousands and thousands of small candles lit afloat across the water. Finally, in December, there is a celebration dubbed The King's Cup Regatta that is celebrated universally in Phuket.
