Ibiza is the capital and the most populated city of Ibiza, one of the many Balearic Islands of
Spain found on the Mediterranean Sea. The town is located in the southeastern part of Ibiza within the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. Ibiza represents the most populated settlement region among the Pine Islands, a territory that is inclusive of the Ibiza and Formentera Islands.
The town of Ibiza is made up of two parts that include the Old Town, which is located up the mountainous region, and the modern town, which is more like an extension of the old Ibiza.
Ibiza has numerous attraction spots around the city, which feature a vibrant blend of both ancient and modern architecture. The Cathedral de Santa Maria, featuring a gothic style, is one such spot plus the nearby beautiful fortifications from the Renaissance Era.
The history and cultural development of Ibiza have been preserved away in many museums across the city. The local history can be accessed from the ancient Casa de La Curia Museum, while works by both locally and internationally renowned artists can be seen at the Museum of Contemporary Art Houses.
Famously known for its active nightlife, Ibiza has numerous nightclubs and discotheques that have become a major attraction to many tourists. On top of that, the food scene remains vibrant, with the inclusion of both local dishes and other international cuisines and continental fusions.
A visit to Ibiza is not complete without a tour of the Sa Caleta settlement area. It features a vast region of Phoenician settlement ruins found to the southwestern part of the city, far beyond the airport.
Ibiza Town experiences a local steppe climate, which is typical of the Köppen classification BSk, owing to the minimal rainfall experienced throughout the year. The weather is mainly characterized by warm and pleasant summers and mildly cold and tolerable winters. Springs and autumns are short and act more as transitional periods.
Summer starts in

September, bringing high temperatures in the range of 22.3°C (72.1°F) and 31.5°C (88.7°F) on average. With up to ten and a half sunshine hours per day and elongated daylight hours, Ibiza feels warmer and is an excellent time to tour the city even late into the night.
Winter is mild and lovely, with a daily temperature averaging between 8.8°C (47.8°F) and 16.2°C (61.2°F). There are up to five and a half sunshine hours per day, minimizing the chances of extremely low-temperature ranges.
Spring is loved for its beautiful blossoms and autumn for its stunning fall foliage.
Ibiza can be visited virtually any time during the year. Still, most people take to visiting the city between
June and September when the weather is at its warmest and most favorable of outdoor fun and activities.
One of the most commonly attended local events is the Ibiza Carnival that is held between
February and
March, featuring colorful decorations and costumes amid feasting and vibrant street parties. Another one is the Holy Week of Easter that is usually held on varying dates depending on the Christian calendar. Religious festivities and parades crown the entire week. In May, Ibiza holds the Medieval Fair in the old quarters. Numerous medieval-themed events are held, and ancient arts and crafts exhibitions shown.
