The city of Clearwater experiences a humid subtropical climate as characterized by warm to hot temperature ranges throughout the year and two distinct seasons - the wet and moderately dry seasons. The annual temperature averages highs of 82.9°F (28.3°C) and lows of 64.8°F (18.2°C).
The moderately dry season begins in October and stretches through May. Most days receive very little or no rainfall, and up to seven and a half hours of sunshine. The driest month is November, with only 7.1cm of precipitation recorded.
The wet season is short, lasting between June and September, and is accompanied by several hazards to which visitors remain warned. Because of the all-year-round pleasant and tolerable weather, Clearwater can be toured at any time. However, the touring season peaks between March and July, from spring through early summer. This period has excellent weather for the outdoors and is devoid of weather-related hazards that dominate the period between June and September, featuring floods, hurricanes, and thunderstorms.
Among the many festivals held in Clearwater, the September Super Boat National Championship and the October Clearwater Jazz Holiday are the most significant.
