Jacksonville is the largest city in the conterminous United States, serving as the Duval County's seat. Winter has the temperature dropping as low as 22.8°F (-5.1°C) on the coldest nights, and averaging highs of 70.2°F (21.2°C) during the day. The days remain moderately dry, with the wettest month barely registering 3.3" (83.8mm) in precipitation. The days also warm up to as much as six hours of sunshine per day.
Autumn experiences a considerable drop in the summer scorch, with the mercury in the daily average of 75.7°F (24.3°C). The fall brings the beautiful golden illumination to Jacksonville, amid the lovely weather. Spring is gorgeous, with the blossoms dominating the season amid mildly warm and pleasant days.
Jacksonville is a year-round destination because most of the days have weather that is mild to warm. The number of tourists is higher during spring, between March and mid-May, and in November. The seasons are mild and tolerable; in November, the extreme summer scorch and heavy rains have calmed down, and during spring, the winter chill has lifted considerably.
The biggest event held in Jacksonville is the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, which is held in May. Visitors enjoy free jazz music concerts from renowned jazz stars in numerous venues around downtown Jacksonville, both in indoor and outdoor arenas.
